APC declares Ondo gubernatorial primary election inconclusive

The governor of Kogi State Usman Ododo has declared Ondo state APC governorship primary election inconclusive.

The seven-member committee for  Ondo State All Progressives Congress primary election led by Usman Ododo revealed that elections will continue in Okitipupa on Sunday in areas where violence was reported to have disrupted the process.

Recall that the party, held the gubernatorial primary election across the 203 wards in the state on Saturday, April 20.

16 aspirants including governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa participated in the exercise.

In a statement on Saturday night, Mr Ododo said having received reports of the primary election from the 203 Wards in the 18 Local Governments of Ondo State, the primary election committee decided that fresh elections would be conducted in all the 13 wards of Okitipupa Local Government Area.

“Having received reports of the primary election from the 203 Wards in the 18 Local Governments of Ondo State, the Primary election Committee has decided that election will be conducted in all the 13 Wards of Okitipupa Local Government with total validated registered members of 9,515 because of validated reports that the exercise did not hold in the Local government due to late arrival of materials and personnel as a result of logistics challenges,” he said.

“Election in Okitipupa Local Government shall be conducted 12 noon on Sunday 21st April 2024.

“The final collation of the results will be done thereafter.”

Okitipupa is a stronghold of one of the aspirants and serving senator, Jimoh Ibrahim.

Meanwhile, five governorship aspirants of the party had called for the cancellation of the primary election of the party over alleged irregularities.

They are Olusola Oke, Olugbenga Edema, Wale Akinterinwa, Dayo Faduyile and Jimi Odimayo.

They asked the leadership of the APC to remove Mr Ododo as chairman of the electoral committee and repeat the process.

In separate statements, the aspirants alleged that there were no elections in the wards and that materials were not available at voting centres.

Trouble looms! APC Ward excos suspends Ganduje

The acting National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje has been suspended by the new ward executives in his ward in Kanu state.

More problem looms  in Kano state Progressives Congress, APC, as new ward executives from Ganduje’s ward, announced fresh suspension

It was earlier reported that that Malam Haladu Gwanjo, a self acclaimed Legal Adviser of another APC faction in Ganduje Ward, announced the suspension of Ganduje last week.

Gwanjo revealed alleged corruption and other vices as reasons for the suspension.

However, another faction represented by the Ward Chairman, Malam Ahmad Ganduje, came out to declare support for Ganduje, saying the ward officials were satisfied with his leadership style.

But in a new twist on Sunday, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), another group yet again announced the suspension of Ganduje.

Speaking to journalists, secretary of the faction, Malam Ja’afar Ganduje, who spoke on behalf of 11 other executive members, said the suspension of Ganduje was due to his alleged anti-party activities.

He said this was particularly during the last general election, adding that Ganduje had failed to pay his statutory dues to the party.

He further blamed Ganduje for contributing to the factionalisation of the party at the ward level, which he said had brought the party to disrepute.

“We are the authentic executives of Ganduje ward and we have passed a vote of no confidence and imposed a new suspension on Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for series of reasons.

“First we have suspended Dr. Ganduje’s membership for creating internal conflict among party members at the ward level.

“Another major reason why the authentic executives resolved to suspend Ganduje is the issue of anti-party activities he generated during the 2023 elections which resulted in the party’s failure in the state”, he said.

The President assured all citizens that his administration remains strongly committed to creating and expanding opportunities for the youth to explore and exercise their abilities and become the symbols of greatness our nation represents into the future.

Police Detains Yahaya Bello’s Female ADC, others

The Nigerian Police Force has detained female police officer attached to former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.

It was reliably gathered that the female officer was nabbed with other officers attached to the former governor on the suspicion that they aided Bello’s escape from security operatives to effect his arrest on Wednesday in Abuja.

Recall that the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun had on Thursday night directed the immediate withdrawal of all officers attached to Bello.

The order for the withdrawal, which was contained in a police wireless message, followed the disappearance of Bello from his Abuja home after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) besieged the residence.

The anti-graft agency had also declared Bello wanted, urging Nigerians with useful information about his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Information in Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo said Governor Usman Ododo did not shield former Governor Yahaya Bello from the arrest of the EFCC.

Fanwo stated this in an interview with Channels Television on Friday.

He said Ododo is committed to upholding the laws of the country, including respecting its legal processes.

“Governor Ododo did not assist in Bello’s departure from his residence; the EFCC’s claims are misinformation aimed at furthering their objectives. Bello is not evading anyone; the existing court injunction protects his fundamental rights,” he said.

Fanwo rejected the anti-graft agency’s claims, describing them as baseless and a product of an organized disinformation campaign.

He said Bello was not attempting to avoid arrest, saying a state high court injunction protects the former governor from harassment by the anti-graft agency.

The commissioner dismissed the commission‘s allegations as he questioned the agency’s certainty about Bello’s whereabouts.

He said Governor Ododo remained a law-abiding leader who respects the rule of law and the Constitution of the country.

Nigerian Correctional Service Addresses Bobrisky’s Gender Assessment in Prison

The Nigerian Correctional Service has provided an update on the treatment of crossdresser Bobrisky during his incarceration. Bobrisky received a six-month prison sentence for abusing the naira, as ordered by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos.

A prison official told Punch that Bobrisky was thoroughly examined upon admission, and no changes or realignment in his gender or genitalia were discovered. His male biological features remain unchanged, aligning with his public declaration as a male and court records.

Bobrisky has been assigned a cell with other inmates and a bed space. He follows the facility’s daily routines, including attending classes and meal times, without receiving any special treatment.

The official emphasized that Bobrisky is subject to the same rules as other inmates, including strict penalties for any attempts at sodomy or homosexuality, which are prohibited in the facility.

[VIDEO]Yoruba Nation Agitators Attempt Oyo State Secretariat Takeover

Yesterday, a group of “Yoruba Nation” agitators attempted to take control of the Oyo State Secretariat. The activists made their presence known by entering the government building and occupying parts of the facility, creating tension and disrupting the day’s proceedings.

The situation escalated as the agitators, led by Ms. Modupe Onitiri Abiola, sought to assert their claims for the secession of the Yoruba Nation from Nigeria. Security forces were called to the scene, and a confrontation ensued.

During the clash, at least three agitators were reportedly killed, and numerous arrests were made. The police confirmed the detention of 20 suspects and seized weapons, including pump-action guns, life cartridges, and cutlasses, along with other equipment such as bulletproof vests and camouflage uniforms.

Yoruba Nation leaders, including Prof. Banji Akintoye and Chief Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, distanced themselves from the attempted takeover, emphasizing that they were not involved in the incident. The police, in collaboration with other security agencies, worked to restore order and prevent the agitators from taking full control of the government premises.
