Gun Battle in Ogun: Police Clash with Armed Robbers at Remo Majestic Hotel, Sagamu, Leaving Two Robbers Feared Dead
The Ogun State Police Command reported a fierce gun battle with armed robbers at Remo Majestic Hotel in Sagamu on Friday. Police officers engaged the criminals in a firefight, resulting in the death of two robbers, while others managed to escape with gunshot wounds.
During the encounter, an inspector and two security guards were shot by the robbers. The wounded officers are currently receiving medical treatment and are in stable condition, according to a statement released by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola.
Upon receiving a distress call about the armed hoodlums at Remo Majestic Hotel, a combined team of policemen was mobilized to the scene. As soon as the criminals spotted the police presence, they opened fire. In the exchange of gunfire, two robbers were wounded, and the rest fled into a nearby bush.
At the crime scene, the police recovered two locally-made single barrel guns, four unexpended cartridges, thirteen expended cartridges, a large scissors, 10 Android phones, one Java phone, and a white Toyota Venza Car with the registration number BWR 123DD Abuja.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspected armed robbers had initially mingled with the hotel guests before launching their attacks. The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, has been briefed and has ordered an immediate manhunt for the two fleeing suspects who escaped with gunshot wounds.
