No fewer than three persons were feared killed in a clash that occurred between two rival cult groups in Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Tuesday. The clash occurred around 9pm.
The cause of the clash is, however, still unknown as of the time of filing this report.
The state Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, who confirmed the clash said his men succeeded in bringing the situation under control.
When contacted the state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami said the commander was informed about the incident but his men could not locate the affected area as residents could not help the police with useful information.
“Our men are currently on patrol within Owo. I spoke with the Area Commander and the DPO, and no one in the town is ready to report or even assist with information. However, the anti-cultism men have been deployed in the town,” the PPRO said.
