A significant number of fuel tankers and vehicles have been engulfed in flames at the Ijora-Apapa area of Lagos state. The incident occurred around 7:30 pm, according to an eyewitness account. As of now, the exact number of casualties remains unknown.
Emergency response teams, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, have not yet reached the scene to combat the raging inferno.
Residents were observed cheerfully scooping fuel from a toppled tanker along Otedola Bridge in Lagos State. This is both bewildering and deeply concerning.
Do they not realize the inherent dangers of this activity, or is it a result of extreme poverty that has led them to disregard safety precautions? This behavior is hazardous and should be strongly condemned.
